Last updated: June 2026
Prins & Prins respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. It is written to comply with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and with the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for visitors in those regions.
1. Who We Are
Prins & Prins Diamonds (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the responsible party (data controller) for the personal information collected through this website. We trade from 66 Loop Street, Cape Town City Centre, 8001, South Africa. For any privacy question or request, contact our Information Officer at info@prinsandprins.com or +27 (0)21 422 1090.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you make an enquiry, request a quote, book a consultation, subscribe to our newsletter or contact us, we collect details such as your name, email address, telephone number, and the content of your message or request. If you place an order, we also collect the information needed to fulfil and document it.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the site, we and our analytics and advertising partners may collect technical information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and how you interact with our pages. This helps us understand how the site is used and improve it.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your enquiries and arrange consultations, viewings and quotes.
- To process and fulfil orders, and to provide after-sales care and honour our warranty.
- To improve our website, products and service, and to understand which content is useful.
- To send you marketing communications where you have asked us to or otherwise consented; you can opt out at any time.
- To keep our site and your information secure, and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Lawful Basis for Processing
We process personal information on one or more of the following grounds: your consent (for example, for marketing and non-essential cookies); the performance of a contract (to fulfil an order or enquiry you have asked for); our legitimate interests (to run, secure and improve our business in a way that does not override your rights); and compliance with the law.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small files placed on your device. We use them in the following ways:
- Strictly necessary cookies that make the website work (for example, remembering your language choice and cookie preferences). These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics, which help us understand how visitors use the site. They collect information in an aggregated form.
- Advertising and remarketing cookies, such as the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Ads, which let us measure the performance of our advertising and show relevant ads to people who have visited our site.
Your control. When you first visit, our cookie notice lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set with your consent, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, and opt out directly through these tools: Google Analytics Opt-out, Meta Ad Preferences, and Your Online Choices.
6. Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with trusted operators who help us run our business, including: secure payment gateways, insured courier and delivery partners, our website hosting provider, and our analytics and advertising partners (Google and Meta). We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights. Each operator is required to keep your information secure and to use it only for the purposes we specify.
7. International Transfers
Some of our partners, including Google and Meta, process information on servers outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected by appropriate safeguards and is handled in line with this policy and applicable law.
8. How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above, including to meet our after-sales, warranty, accounting and legal obligations, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
9. How We Protect It
All online transactions are encrypted using SSL technology and processed through a secure third party gateway; card details are not stored on our servers after purchase. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
10. Your Rights
Under POPIA you have the right to: be told what personal information we hold; request access to it; ask us to correct or delete it; object to its processing; and withdraw your consent at any time. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have rights to data portability and to restrict processing under GDPR. To exercise any right, contact us at info@prinsandprins.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
11. Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian.
